9. A number of villages in the area have discussed the feasibility of dissolving village government. This would mean the town of East Bloomfield acquiring all of the assets of the village and administering the services. What is your opinion of dissolving the village?

•  Yes

•  Yes – dissolve

•  Good idea at this time

•  Dissolve and eliminate duplication

•  It makes sense to dissolve the village and allow the town to administer the services.

•  If the town could handle the additional responsibility, I have no problem dissolving the village.

•  If it saves money and expands services to more people I am for it.

•  No. (5)

•  No way.

•  Opposed.

•  Not in favor.

•  Don’t do it.

•  Absolutely not.

•  Please do not dissolve the village.

•  Not a good idea.

•  Don’t dissolve.

•  Do not dissolve the village!

•  Keep the village.

•  Should stay with village.

•  Continue with village government.

•  I like it how it is.

•  Not at this time.

•  I disagree with this.

•  Do not want it dissolved.

•  The village and town should be administered individually.

•  I think we should keep Bloomfield as its own village entity.

•  I like living in a village with a village identity. I am not in favor of dissolving village govt. unless there are significant tax savings.

•  I think it is important to continue our own “village government”. It is within this realm that we best meet our neighbor’s needs. We need to strive to be self-sufficient within our own village and work together.

•  I think we need to keep village government> I feel the needs of the village would be lost in town government.

•  Please leave well enough alone-I don’t feel that we should change the way we do things. Do we really truly save money? Cost go up one way or the other!!! Also the average person even when going to meetings or wanting to be a help are sometimes not listen too. We need more open minded people that can think outside the box!!

•  Village and town should be kept separate-Different issues for each. Would have to compromise too much.

•  I don’t think the village should dissolve. Maybe combined to work more closely together towards the same goal. Bloomfield expanding in the future. It’s already a close knit community. People are very involved with the school and activities.

•  NO- villages are special places-offering services required for the density- As long as it is economically practical villages are the best way to deliver those services.

•  The town board is backwards. To merge the village with the town government would put the village back 20+ years.

•  No. Keep the village separate from the town. It does have needs that are different from the larger community and should b e addressed separately. Overall, the village does a fine job of meeting the needs of residents.

•  Do not dissolve the village. Only bigger problems would come out of it.

•  No! No! No! the village has its own special needs and assets, and these should not come under the control of town government.

•  I do not think that dissolving the village is a good idea. I believe that the village needs to have a stricter set of regulations and rules than the town in order to keep our village clean and beautiful to continue to attract new residents and businesses.

•  Our community is expanding and will continue to expand even if it occurs more slowly than some places, so be it! A great community! Have lived in village all my life and have always been very satisfied with the actions of the village governing individuals/groups. Let’s leave thing as they are at this time.

•  I am not familiar with the advantages of such a move, but am currently happy with the community flavor that is maintained through the village government.

•  Sounds okay at first blush-What would this mean for taxes? Water and Sewer? The post office and villages were combined at a savings to the taxpayer. It would make sense from a fiscal stand point.

•  I fail to see the advantages of merging. The government bodies other than a decrease in costs for building cost and/or maintenance.

•  East Bloomfield already took our identity why not our village government!

•  If this can happen and run efficiently, why not. If by doing this, the cost is more than the 2 bodies now, then no.

•  OK if it saves better the needs of the public. What are the pros and cons of consolidation?

•  What Gives!

•  No opinion, but think it could work!

•  Would it cut down the cost?

•  Not enough information to judge.

•  I would need more info to make an informed, intelligent decision!

•  Don’t know enough!

•  What are the pros and cons?

•  No answer- Would need additional information (pros and cons).

•  None.

•  Not Sure.

•  No response (14)

10. YOUR COMMENTS WELCOMED. Please attach a sheet if necessary.

•  We need cat control also.

•  Restrict motorizes vehicles from going through lawns.(snowmobiles)

•  I live in an apartment complex on Oakmount and kids all over toys all over unlicensed cars garbage all over- lawns un mowed. Why is this not zoned?? Payoff or back??

•  I have yet to see anything that moves this government body any closer to the area of producing revenue and reducing the tax burden on the average home owner. You ask about commercial areas; however you do not want any real commercial ventures, because industry will not fit into your bedroom village plans. Where will our children move to for jobs & home? Out of State!

•  We need more air pumps available in the village. There is currently only one working.

•  Force landlords who rent to tenants whom have pets to take responsibility by fencing in their property. Make it illegal for landlords to allow pets if their property is not enclosed by fencing.

•  -Taxes do not need to be raised.

•  Help keep the small village alive.

•  The old Agway should be torn down! It is an eyesore and a danger. The space could be used for much better purposes.

•  The village has its.

•  Keep out of welfare housing. Welfare brings drugs, Drugs bring crime, crime brings more taxes to pay for police to chase after the people who don’t want to work like the rest of us.

•  Ban and enforce snowmobiles and 4 wheel ATV from village. Protect our properties and privacy!

•  More Street lights west of Main after business district??

•  There are homes in the village that are in disrepair and hazardous as well as eyesores! Those who maintain their homes feel frustrated. Complaints go no where! What recourse does a property owner and tax payer have?

•  Overall, the village does a fine job of meeting the needs of residents.

•  I moved here the months ago and this is heaven to where I used to live so keep up the good work.

•  Because of the number of walkers in the village it would be great if after the sidewalk plows went through, someone could shovel in the areas that go to street level to make it easier for the very young and elderly.

•  The Agway property could become a regional community center, serving both senior citizen and youth needs. If not, some of the property adjacent to the elementary school could be used, which could include both a pool and a library for public and school use.

•  Rebuild baseball field. Rebuild soccer field (couldn’t use for 2 years) Put in a new baseball field not to state spec (can’t use)!

•  I’d like to see the village/town remain rural, with no franchises, etc., that would make the area lose it uniqueness. I like to walk to my destinations, so sidewalks are important, plus keeping businesses together in a downtown district encourages this. A sense of community brings by having viable businesses close to people’s homes, where we can greet each other and stop for a chat while running errands. That’s what I love about this area, and I would hate to see that ruined if we develop 5&20 for example. Could we plan grid streets so everyone would share traffic levels instead of a few having to bear all? My experience living with grids is no streets were overly taxed with traffic.

•  My husband and I moved here 9 years ago. We chose Bloomfield because it was a central location between both of our jobs and we liked the looks of the area. The town was clean and very little crime. After 9 years we still love the area & look forward to our kids going and graduating from the Bloomfield Schools.

•  Brush and tree limb removal should be at least quarterly. Would like to be kept appraised of development of the old Agway facility. Would like to see the small-village & rural character of the area preserved. Please preserve Boughton Park for residents, as is done currently!
